The LVA version of the pattern contains the following elements designed to make it easier to use for people with low vision. Black text, no italics, 22 point font for pattern and 24 point font for headings, fully written instructions – chart use is optional, H-tags for headings, page numbers in bottom left corner, left-justified text, 1-inch margins, no columns and captioned images.
The Gem Box Cowl is a cowl/infinity scarf designed to make the most of small luxury skeins of yarn. In particular, it was developed to highlight those gorgeous variegated yarns that are irresistible in the skein but can easily pool in unappealing ways when knit up.
Gem Box Cowl uses mosaic colorwork, where only one color is worked at a time, with stitches slipped on alternating rows. It’s a perfect entry point into colorwork for beginners, or a great mindless knit (that doesn’t look mindless!) for knitters familiar with the technique.
