Matilija Mitts by Lauren Rad

Fingerless mitts have small ribbed cuffs at the wrist, fingers and tip of thumb. The body of the mitt is covered with a slip stitch pattern that looks like little flowers.

Accessibility statement: This pattern includes a second PDF version that is formatted for knitters with low vision. It has black text, size 22 or larger text in a sans serif font, no italics, no columns, and fully-written directions. The chart is still included but is not needed to work the pattern.

The stitch pattern on these mitts reminded me of a flower, and one of my very favorite flowers is the Matilija Poppy. It is a gigantic plant native to the Ventura County area, and its blooms are big, white flowers with a sunny yellow center. The flowers show up every year in June, just as the summer is starting, and their petals flutter in the breeze. Sizes small, medium and large.
