Who would have thought that strips of tape, two metres apart, snaking around the supermarket carparks and showing us where to wait to be allowed to enter and do our weekly shop, would become a thing? But it has and it’s a thing we are going to have to get used to for a while at least. Not one for wasting time, I like to keep my hands busy whilst queuing and socks are the perfect carry around project! Stand in Line features a simple knit and purl stitch pattern, easy to memorise and perfect for short bursts of knitting to alleviate the boredom of waiting… Knit from the cuff down with slip stitch heel flap and a functional square heel, I have continued the pattern right to the end of the toe shaping for extra textured interest. Using DK sock yarn makes for a comfy pair of house socks that work up really quickly too and the pattern is written for 7 sizes from child to large adult so there’s a pair for everyone!
